Amongst all the cars that are soon going to be nixed from Brazil's new car market due to safety regs, people just seem to fondly remember one, which is the VW Bus.
However, there is another nice car that is surely going to be missed, if only by a few. In short, a timeless design by !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! -so that's why it looks a bit like the Panda- in the form of a small hatchback. You could even get it with a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and a manual, that could very well give the Peugeot 205 GTI a run for its money.
It was, back then, a quite popular car. Whilst it didn't had the street cred of the 205 or the overall balance of the Fiesta, it still had a strong corporation behind (Fiat had much more reputation for small cars than it has now) and managed to be the Car of the Year in 1984, even if their !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! wasn't for everybody's tastes.

Being a small european car in the 80s, you can expect all of the things it went through: Having a small transport van version (the Fiorino), underpowered if massive-displacement diesels, some akward, akward automatic versions -it shared the same CVT with the Fiesta- , and having its life stretched in south america for, well, too long. But, as always, there were some silver linings, namely in the form of hooning. With all four wheels catching some air.
Best of all, ending this south american second chance, the brazilian version was rechristened "Mille", allowing the final special edition to be named !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , in what could surely rank for one of the best (worst?) names ever.
See! I wasn't joking. Down here there's a video that shows all versions that were made of this gorgeous little car both in Europe and in South America, and as it seems there were quite a few, pickups included.
Anyhow, during the last 3 years has been living with its successor, the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Built on the same platform as the Nuova Panda, or the 500, it looks the part, while it remains rugged and cheap enough for brazilian economy cars' standard. But that's another story.
